BRONKHORSTSPRUIT FARM

The Old Transvaal Red Brahman herd, with the brand TVL, was started in 2016 with the purchase of the entire CVA herd from Christo van Aardt, well known for his many years of experience and achievements in the Brahman industry. The herd was further built up with top genetics from South Africa’s top stud breeders, including Solly Ferreira (S), Pieter Meiring (LMP), Hennie Jacobs (HJW), and a large number of animals were purchased from Burnie Staal (BOS-R).

The herd consists of approximately 200 stud females in production. We currently sell bulls, cows, and heifers directly from the farm.

We are striving to become one of the best Red Brahman herds in South Africa by purchasing the best Red bulls, semen and embryo flushes. Using Phase D growth tests by the ARC, we are providing excellent bulls to the market and timeously select bulls for our own use.

We have incredibly beautiful females in our herd.
We aim to become the industry’s preferred red genetics supplier.
All buyers will be satisfied with these animals, whether for their stud or commercial herds.

DUNDEE FARM

My journey began in 1999 with the purchase of the best Manso genetics available and so the
Old Transvaal Brahman stud was born.

In 2006, the farms Doornkop, Vaalkop and Earnscliff (4000 ha) 40 km south of Dundee, in the Helpmekaar area, were bought. The farm consists of stud and commercial cattle herds, crops, game, and the Nxala Lodge. We are on the Battlefields route a mere stone’s throw from Rorkes Drift and Isandlwana, and not far from Blood River.

In 2006, the TVL Simbra stud was born, consisting of top breeders’ genetics and self-bred by using stud Simmentaller bulls on Red and White Brahman herds, and backcrosses with Brahman and Simmentaller bulls.

In 2019 we started to replace the Simbra stud bulls with Beefmaster bulls. Several Beefmaster females were also purchased from some of the best breeders. In 2021 all Simbra and Beefmaster cows (600 cows and heifers in production) were mated with some of the best Beefmaster bulls in the country, including V8, MB, VOVA, SB, CC, OBS, BMA, BOS, OKT, and WO. The result is excellent Beefmaster calves.

Furthermore, we registered with the Beefmaster Society in May 2023.

We farm extensively on mixed grazing, including sourveld, thornveld and highveld, with harsh conditions of heartwater, redwater and gallsickness.

We select hardy, beefy, fertile, and functional cattle.
